Gaza Faces Severe Hunger as Aid Distribution Shrinks from 400 to Just 4 Points

Gaza: Bassam Zaqout, speaking from Gaza City as the head of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, revealed that the current aid distribution system in Gaza has drastically reduced the number of aid points from 400 to just four.

He criticized this new mechanism for failing to meet the urgent needs of vulnerable groups, including the elderly and people with disabilities, suggesting that hidden agendas are influencing how aid is being managed and distributed.

Zaqout explained that while only about 1 percent of aid distribution points remain operational, numerous UN agencies and international humanitarian organizations stand ready to run 400 points to improve access and delivery of food and supplies across Gaza. Despite these preparations, the stark reduction in active distribution centers means that aid is not reaching most of the population, worsening the already dire food insecurity.

He emphasized the severity of the crisis by stating that “100 percent of the population is hungry,” underscoring the scale of deprivation faced by civilians trapped in the enclave amid ongoing conflict and blockade. The shrinking aid infrastructure compounds the humanitarian disaster, leaving millions without reliable access to basic necessities as Gaza’s conditions continue to deteriorate.
